The Forgotten Voices

Over 2 million Americans are in prison. Each one has a story to tell.

“Forgotten Voices” is a docu-series about public speaking in prisons across the United States and how prisoners are using it as a rehabilitation tool to become more empathetic human beings. Each one-hour episode profiles a different prison and the behind the bars lives of inmates who craft powerful and entertaining speeches about themselves, their experiences in the outside world that shaped them, their experiences inside prison and their work at becoming better human beings.

Where most prison shows on television plainly show life behind bars for people that deserved to be locked up, The Forgotten Voices will add a humanity to the subject of life behind bars that no other show has been able to capture.

The season ending episodes could be a prison contest in Louisiana that brings the ten best speakers together from the 10 prison Toastmasters clubs in Louisiana as they vie for being the “best speaker behind bars”.
