The Midnight Rambles, hosted by the Levon Helm Band

Rock ‘N Roll hall of famer Levon Helm has been in the business of making music for over forty years and if the walls of  “The Barn” could talk, what stories they would tell! Tucked in the woods of Woodstock, New York, where Levon created music with The Band, Levon resides in his home wth an attached barn that has been restored into one of the most unique recording studios you may ever encounter. Music legends galore have played, jammed and recorded there and Levon today is continuing that tradition. Inviting 100 or so guests to his home, Levon has carved out one of the most intimate and unique live musical experiences every other Saturday night.

The Midnight Ramble Sessions, a series of live performances at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, began in January 2004. He based his Ramble Sessions on the southern medicine shows of his youth and has invited some of the most notable blues entertainers and musicians of our time to perform at The Rambles. The very first Ramble featured one of the last performances by great blues pianist, Johnnie Johnson. Friends old and new have joined Levon on his stage including: Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Dr. John, Garth Hudson, Allan Toussaint, Larry Campbell, Ricky Lee Jones, Jimmy Vivino, Hubert Sumlin, Little Sammy Davis, The Muddy Waters Band, Donald Fagen, Hipmotism, EricMingus, Ollabelle, The Alexis P. Suter Band, The Love Trio, The Bruce Katz Band, Sex Mob, The Brian Mitchell Band and Matt Mays and El Torpedo.

Tumbleweed Entertainment has partnered with Levon Helm Studios to produce Levon’s Midnight Rambles for television. Building on the success of its predecessors MTV’s Unplugged, VH1’s storytellers and Austin City Limits- Levon will be inviting some of music’s best songwriters and musicians to his home in Woodstock, NY to create amazing and original sets of music from America’s catalogue of classics, bridging our musical heritage to a new generation of fans through the music and artists of yesterday and today.

Each one hour episode will feature a young up and coming band and a headlining guest that will play and sing alongside Levon and the Levon Helm Band. The weekly set list will include blues, Americana and rock n roll, both from the past and from today. It will include favorites from Levon’s catalogue and the best of what the music world offers today. The guest list will include some of today’s biggest stars in both rock and country as well as some of Levon’s old friends that have blessed us all with the music we lose ourselves in each day. The Midnight Rambles will be a once in a lifetime invitation for the television audience to come inside the home of a rock n roll hall of famer and enjoy music that stirs the imagination and the soul.
